How Funerals Create a Healing Experience

Every family is different - with their own sets of beliefs, customs, and traditions. At Hopewell Memorial Home & Cremation, we know that each family requires special attention to ensure that their wishes are met. Our goal is to listen, provide you with information, and carry out your requests.

No need or wish is too big or small for the families we serve in Montgomery NJ. And this is important, because many families are unaware of the many options they have when it comes to creating funeral and cremation services. You may have been to services before and wondered if certain things could be done a little differently - we are here to help you realize that idea.

Burial and Cremation DefinedCremation

Contrary to what some people believe, Cremation does not limit choices, but, in fact, increases one’s options. It is a process which is performed in a respectful and dignified manner and can be memorialized in many ways. Traditional or contemporary services are often planned before or after the cremation process. A funeral service followed by cremation may be exactly the same as a funeral service followed by ground burial. Arrangements and ceremonies tend to be as individual as the persons for whom and by whom they are made. They may be personalized specifically to reflect the life of the deceased, and thus have a special meaning.

Importance of Memorialization

Memorialization provides a permanent, secure place for cremated remains to be placed, and for family members and descendants to honor the lives of the deceased. Cremation allows families many choices for memorializing a loved one. Some families choose to keep the cremated remains with them at home or to scatter the remains over land or water.

Burial

·         Customary Funeral Followed by Burial

A funeral can be held in one’s place of worship or our service chapel. This is followed by a procession to the graveside or to our crematory. It is Hall-Wynne’s practice to allow families to remain at the graveside as the body is lowered into the earth or witness the placement of the deceased into the cremator.

A reception or visitation is typically held at the funeral home or a place of worship the day prior or on the same day as the service. Visitation allows sharing of stories and memories as well as religious rites.

·         Graveside Service

Some families prefer to have the funeral at the gravesite. We make sure there are adequate canopies for inclement weather and lap robes for the family in cold weather. Some will opt to have a graveside service prior to a memorial service held at a church or our chapel.

·         Home Funerals

Years ago the family residence was the venue for life’s events – birth, death, and marriage. Despite today’s norm of using a funeral home or worship space for the visitation or funeral, we are honored to accommodate anyone who finds it meaningful for their family member to be brought home one last time.
